Here you go, your intern dollars at work!
"The deep sea was considered a desert until not so long ago; it's quite amazing to have documented close to 20,000 forms of life in a zone that was thought to be barren," said Jesse Ausubel with the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, a sponsor of the census. "The deep sea is the least explored environment on earth." [more]

'Remote Control' Host Ken Ober Dead At 52
52?! Jeez ...
"No foul play is suspected, no suicide, it looks like natural causes, just no one knows the exact cause yet." [more]
"Remote Control" was the place where I learned of the majesty that is/was Kari Wuhrer. Naked in the movie, "Crossing Guard."

Totally random thought
What if Wolverine (of the X-Men) were to pop his claws, but instead of adamantium talons, or even those bone things that he had for a while, out popped ...
... DONGS?!??!!?

Shat monkeys ...
Halloween Month called on account of ... well, name it.
Missed a payment on the internet and lost it for a weekend.
The movies I needed to complete the list are trapped at a friend's house.
Work picked up speed, up to and including a near-firing due to general professional negligence.
The fates have conspired against Halloween Month again.
Alright, back to normal ...

2009 Month of Halloween update
Seems to happen every year ...
When I compiled the list of movies for consideration for this year's marathon, I randomly assigned the movies to certain dates.
What happened was that I had some of the films loaned out to a friend, and I hadn't gotten those back in time to finish the list. I could have jumped to the next film I had, but I have a touch of the OCD that won't allow me to do that sometimes.
I'll be getting those movies back this week, so I'll round that out and move on to some other new thing.
