I was hoping it was a bad dream.
i saw a trailer for the new Rambo movie before "American Gangster" and it just looks as good as you would expect it to. I just cannot believe they are doing this or i guess I should say did this. Of course, "Rocky Balboa" was not a bad move so what do I know?
And yes, "American Gangster' was a good movie. Not the best I have seen but good.

What bothered me about the notion of the new Rambo movie, was apparantley Rambo (who when we last left him, was aiding the Afghani militia, back when they were called "Freedom Fighters" instead of "terrorists") was supposed to be taking on a Hollywood version of Al Quaeda in his new movie.
But this idea was supposedly nixed on the notion that it would be too politically incorrect and would offend people. Instead I hear he's supposed to be going to Burma (how lame?) to liberate a sweatshop or something.
How many times do you think this has been discussed at construction sites or American Legion posts or honky-tonks:
"Goddamnit, they oughta just send Rambo down thurrr to take care of them towel-headed terrorists."
I say that there are MILLIONS of blue-collar Americans who would have paid $10 to see Rambo lay down an ass-whooping on Osama Bin Laden.
And I was dragged, kicking and screaming, into seeing "Rocky Balboa", and yeah it was actually pretty decent. I still maintain my 10-year no-sell of Rocky 5, however. In my world, it never happened.
