An audio-mixing question

So guys,

What programs do you use for audio mixing? Are they free? Which is best? I want to dabble a little over the semester break.

The most common freeware audio-editing/mixing program is Audacity. Nate uses it for his mixes and that's what I used for most of mine (I did precision work in Cool Edit Pro after Audacity started to get sluggish). Jake made the Ollie Ox mixtape (which I've downloaded but haven't gotten a chance to listen to yet) on Ableton Live, which is a professional editor.
