I called Lander's Human Resources to see if they filled the Counseling position. "A tentative offer has been made to a candidate." That candidate was not me. So I'm still at Beckman for a little while longer.

That sucks. It's always the way, though. The more you want something the less you get it. (Skinny blondes.) In my experience, anyway.
Don't give up hope. The candidate could be trying to get a second job offer to use as leverage against his current employer for a raise. That sort of stuff happens all the time in academia. A guy I know who teaches at U of Michigan went into his interview and the interviewers told him up front that this position was for a senior historian who taught at Penn. That guy from Penn took the Michigan offer back to Penn and got a 50K or so raise, and the guy I know got an apologetic call, an on-campus interview, and a job.
I appreciate the feedback, ya'll. I really do. Thanks.
