I think the answer to #2 has something to do with holding a specific combination of WWE/WWF/WCW World, US and Intercontinental titles.
The answer to #4 is that they teamed with Buff Bagwell.
The answer to #10 involves being hit in the face with a chair.
I've got one:
Republicans
Hulk Hogan
Vaccuum cleaner
Pretty good.
#2 is that they are actually the only three wrestlers to hold the tag titles, intermediate singles belt, and the world title in the WWF/E and WCW.
#4 - Partners with whom Bagwell held tag titles with.
#10 - Exactly.
All answers will be giv'n on 11/13.
#5 - I looked it up, but I won't answer it because I cheated. Good one.
#7 - Fake NWA Russians. I had to think REALLY FUCKING HARD to remember who Scott Simpson was. After that, I did look up Jim Perras to make sure the answer was correct, but I think you have his first name wrong.
#8 - Dead ECW alum? I had to search for Ted Petty to see who he was and I still don't know who Jeff Peterson is, but I'm extrapolating.
1, 3, 6 and 9 are all beyond me.
#3 are all the letter's that went in front of WO to make something a World Order.
Damn Josh, very nice.
Good job, too, Ron. I was almost certain that would be one of the ones left standing at the end.
This leaves:
#1 - Still open
#5 - Still open, due to Josh's good sportsmanship
#6 - Still open
#8 - Still open (the Jeff Peterson inclusion makes Josh's guess wrong)
#9 - Still open
And as for the Russian question, I got "Jim Perras," "James Perris," and "Oreal Perras," along with assorted different spellings of those aforementioned names. And a more specific guess would have been "NWA Russians," but that's just too picky, even for me.
One of the neatest things about the new Mozilla Firefox (2.0, if ya don't know) is that when you highlight text and right-click on it, the "search web for" option is dictated by which search engine is selected in the toolbar at that time. Previously it defaulted to Google. On the downside, I was only searching for Jeff Peterson via Wikipedia, but after searching Google I have the answer to #8, which is incredibly obscure.
Here are some guesses
1) People who have had WWF DVDs released after they had left the company?
6) People who were eliminated first in Wargames?
Is #8 "Former holders of the ECW tag championships now deceased?"
Okay ... here's the answers to 1-10 of the first-ever SGM Tribond Challenge:
#1 - Ultimate Warrior, Roddy Piper, and Brock Lesnar all hold clean, "real" (i.e. by pinfall or submission) victories over Hulk Hogan. (UW: Wrestlemania VI; RP: Starrcade 1996; BL: Smackdown 8/8/02)
#2 - These three held the triple crown in both WWF/E and WCW.
#3 - The letters L, N, and B can all precede "WO" to label a faction: LWO (Latino World Order); NWO (New World Order); BWO (Blue World Order). Also applicable: The letter J
#4 - These three held the WCW tag titles with Buff Bagwell ... and their careers never survived.
#5 - Beck, Chris Vaughn, and Elliot Wilhelm are the names of characters played by the Rock in his first few films (Beck - "Rundown"; Chris Vaughn - "Walking Tall"; Elliot Wilhelm - "Be Cool")
#6 - Garvin, Eaton & McMichael were the opponents that submitted in a Wargames match.
#7 - NWA (Jim Crocket Promotions) Russians (Ivan, Nikita, and Krusher Kruschev, respectively)
#8 - Ted Petty, Chris Candido, and Jeff Peterson all have memorial tournaments that have been named after them; the Ted Petty (Rocco Rock) and Jeff Peterson tourneys are confined pretty much to indy level. Candido's was held by TNA. I almost went with "Jim Crockett Sr." over Peterson, but that would have been a lot easier.
9 - Raven, Kane, and Dean Malenko are all ... Jewish.
10 - All three moves require the use of at least one steel chair.
So, thanks to all who participated. I'll have to put one of these up again sometime.
Yeah. That was a good little brain teaser.
The answer to 6 is awesome. Very slick. Also, 1 and 9.
The answer to my tribond:
"Things that suck."
