Jose Offerman. Criminal

I think that this has to go against baseball's unwritten rules.

According to this story, former MLB player Jose Offerman hit a home run in his first at-bat for some Indy team on Long Island. On his next at-bat, he got the bean ball. What did he do then? He chased the pitcher with his bat and made contact. Hilarity did not ensue.

Wow, that's insane. I guess the possibility of a batter charging the pitcher with bat in hand is why Major League Baseball cracks down so hard on beanballs and retaliatory pitches.

This also reminds me of Juan Marichal, a pitcher for the Dodgers who hit catcher Johnny Roseboro in the head with his bat. Marichal was at bat and felt the Roseboro's return throws were too close to Marichal's head.

Also, I'm pretty sure there are written rules against this sort of thing.
