And I'm reminded of his brief, yet blissfully distant appearance in "Bowling For Columbine." Since he apparently just died, look for some references in the news to the NRA or uses of the quote "Damn dirty apes!" to abound in the coming days.

I never really watched any of his movies but there was something about him that I liked. I guess we can now look forward to a new edition DVD of Planet of the Apes.
I'll never forget the scene in Bowling for Columbine from the NRA rally days after Columbine.
"Out of my COLD, DEAD HANDS...."
Despite being a hate-filled racist, I try not to speak ill of the dead for karma's sake, so I will just say that he did do a great job playing Moses.
Heston's family released a statement announcing his death which refers to Heston as a civil-rights leader, which I thought was a reference to his hard-on for guns and if so would be incredibly demeaning to what most people think of when they see "civil-rights leader." Shockingly, Heston was pretty heavily involved in the civil-rights movement as a liberal in the late 50s and 60s and endorsed the 1968 Gun Control Act. in the wake of Robert Kennedy's assassination. Then he contracted syphilis in the 1970s and by the 1980s the illness had driven him to vote Republican and support gun-penis-replacementism.
I agree with Will ... death sells. In fact, if they hadn't already re-released "Omega Man" to cash in on Will Smith's "I Am Legend," I'd say to be on the lookout for that one too. Y'know, apparently the only death that doesn't sell is Chris Benoit's.
After reading Jake's karma statement, then reaching the end of Josh's statement, I can see my Sunday is already looking better than I thought it would be .... thanks fellas!
