George Carlin passed away Sunday of heart failure at age 71.
Carlin was a hero and an inspiration to me in shaping my worldview both in my formative adolescent years and continuing into adulthood. His ability to cut through the bullshit while making you laugh until your throat hurt was unparalleled. Taken as a whole, his work is the finest American philosophy and the pinnacle of stand-up comedy. Fuck anyone who says different.

The minute I logged in and saw this news on MSN's front page, I thought of your admiration and reverence for Mr. Carlin's brand of voodoo.
I was always a fan of his routine on the differences between football & baseball, myself.
Between Carlin & Tim Russert, it's been a rough month for cardiac health.
I am currently immersed in the "denial" phase of this. I will let you know as anger, sadness, guilt, etc. make their way around.
Rest in Peace big man, you were/ARE truly an icon.
