I'm trying to get these back on track with being every Thursday, but I've had a recent increase in my extra curricular activities, i.e. household & work responsibilities, so I've fallen a little behind.
My Head's In Mississippi - ZZ Top
I used to love this song! It fell somewhere into the whole ripoff-of-"Boogie Chillen" vibe that ZZ Top started back with "Tush."

When I was about 10 years old my dad took me to see ZZ Top on the "Recycler" tour, when this song was that hot new shit. Honestly that concert had the most elaborate stage setup I've ever seen in my life. The set was made to look like a landfill, with a crane that halfway thru the show, lifted up each member of the band and dropped them into a "trash compactor" only to spit them out as cubes. When ZZ Top burst out of their cubes, they had on new outfits and guitars with cotton balls glued all over.
Anyway, during "My Head's In Mississippi" they had a laser show on the ceiling of naked chicks. This combined with this song being about naked chicks made this 10-year old feel kinda funny...like there was something about naked chicks I was going to really enjoy later in life...
Another notable moment was that the opening act on this tour was a then-unknown Black Crowes, who were later kicked off the tour for refusing to do the Miller Beer promo (who were the tour sponsors). In fact I do recall the vocalist mentioning that this show "is brought to you commercial-free."
Ah, memories.
