Life on other planet(')s (moon) found speculated!

Sez New Scientist:

"In 2005, Chris McKay of NASA's Ames Research Center in Moffett Field and Heather R. Smith of the International Space University in Strasbourg, France, calculated that [microbes] could eke out an existence by breathing hydrogen gas and eating the organic molecule acetylene, creating methane in the process." [more]

And recent infrared mapping of Titan's surface finds limited hydrogen on the terrain, despite copious hydrogen in the atmosphere. And this is what passes for scientific investigation?! Oh, my beloved science, I have come to expect so much more of you. Something like this reeks of spontaneous generation, or strategies for evading the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal.
