Recent Scholarship

Finding sources for this course is fun.

Part of me thinks this is cool, and part of me thinks we have ran out of things to study.

"Performed Identities: Heavy Metal Musicians Between 1984 and 1991. This was a doctoral dissertation from Bowling Green State University. I haven't read it, of course, but I'm mining his footnotes for reading assignments for my students.

Also, we have Professional Baseball and Fan Disillusionment: A Religious Ritual Analysis from the Journal of Religion and Popular Culture. Can't use that one (it came up when I was trying to find an article on TBS and the rise of a national cable audience around the Atlanta Braves) but it looks pretty good as well.
