I don't know much about all your fancy journalism & ad revenue, but there's gotta be a better way to advertise warm jammies than in a story about a child dying from hypothermia.

I just noticed that screenshot appears to be from a widescreen monitor. Did you pick up a new monitor recently?
Kinda sorta. Grabbed the image from the computer they gave me at work.
I'm actually committing 2008 to seriously improving the functioning of my computer (a 2000 HP w/ Win XP), making it a gaming/ entertainment (DVD/stereo) rig. I might be sending an email or two your way when I finally figure out where the starting point to this project is.
If your current PC is an HP, the starting point is getting a new one. Seriously, HPs hardware is usually proprietary, meaning you have to buy HP branded new parts, which costs more.
Ugh. Even if I replace much of the heavy duty parts, such as the motherboard, etc.?
