From the eloquently titled, yet horribly untimely news article published today, "Saddam feared AIDS, venereal disease:"
"U.S. military spokesman in Iraq, Maj. Matthew Morgan declined to describe the writings as a 'diary,' saying that thousands of pages having been produced by the former leader while he was in custody." [more]
Okay ... diagram that sentence for me. Even if there's a typo or a syntax error in here, I can't even begin to get what the point of this comment was/is. Bitch that wrote that sentence ... nay, the whole article ... needs to be retired.
(The "current" in the label "Current Events and Politics" should be in quotations, for this one.)

Greetings from the Bay Area of California.
Reporting sucks because the colleges are turning out kids who worry more about sentence structure and AP style than actually piecing together a coherent thought or a well-reasoned argument. It is all about writing clips about the city commission meeting and the Tri Gamma Nu fund raiser than it is actually getting an educated view of the world. Trust me, I know. Via e-mail I will share with you some of the more egregious examples from this semesters final exams.
With the proliferation of the mass media, journalism today (at least on the web) is more about confirmation than persuasion. People only want to read things that tell them they are right. That is sad.
